Der Tod ist ein Bestandteil unseres Lebens. Die dazu gehörigen Rituale sind gesellschaftliche Handlungen, die metaphysische Grenzbereiche mit Symbolik und Sinnhaftigkeit füllen. Bestattungen sind ein Bestandteil unserer Gesellschaft. Der von mir gestaltete Sarg hat die Aufgabe, Menschen den Abschied von ihren geliebten Haustieren zu erleichtern. Damit können die Tierhalter ihren verstorbenen tierischen Begleitern ein symbolisches Haus mit auf den Weg geben. Die aus Pilzmyzel und Pflanzenresten bestehende Ruhestätte ist sowohl für die Erdbestattung sowie für die Feuerbestattung vorgesehen. Auch für das offene Ablegen in der Natur ist der sich biologisch abbaubare Sarg geeignet. Myzel als Wertstoff birgt viele Lösungen für die Zukunft unseres Planeten. Ritual ist nur eine Lösung, wie wir unseren Konsum und unsere Nutzgegenstände als Teil der Kreislaufwirtschaft verstehen können.

Death is an integral part of our lives. The associated rituals are ceremonies that imbue the metaphysical limits of our existence with symbolism and meaning. Funerals serve an important social function. The coffin that I designed is intended to make it easier for people to bid farewell to their beloved pets. It allows pet owners to give their deceased animal companions a symbolic home after they pass out of this world. This final resting place, made of mushroom mycelium and plant material, is intended for both earth burials and cremation. The biodegradable coffin is also suitable for placing on the ground in a natural setting. Mycelium is a fibrous material that holds many solutions for the future of our planet. Ritual is just one solution to reaching a better understanding of how our consumption and the objects of everyday life can be integrated into a closed-loop economy.
